With its form inspired by the garfish – also known by its Latin name, Belone belone, which literally means ‘needle’.
Carved from Swedish walnut from Öland with Japanese urushi lacquer and detail in silver.

About Marina Kawata | 川田まりなについて


Marina Kawata is a Japanese-American artist based in Malmö, Sweden. Following her formal education in illustration and ceramics, including an extended ceramic apprenticeship in Karatsu, Japan, Kawata now focuses on sculptural works in locally sourced wood.
