About Michihiro and Kumiko Dōmoto | 土本 訓寛 久美子について

Mr and Mrs Dōmoto are based in the historic pottery region of Echizen in Fukui Prefecture, where they create wood-fired ceramic works imbued with a deep sense of both place and past times.

By blending local Echizen clays with raw clay foraged within Fukui prefecture by themselves, each piece speaks intimately of the land on which they live and work.

Their ceramic works for tea are characterized by a unique harmony between naturally unpolished and the highly refined – and an always masterful level of functionality, as evident for instance in the smooth, drip-free pours of their teapots and gaiwans.
