Gokase Ichō Kamairicha Zairai | Pesticide-free and artificial fertiliser-free | 2024

五ヶ瀬 萎凋釜炒り茶 在来

Lightly wilted (ichō) kamairicha harvested from +50 years old zairai tea trees that are growing at 600 meters above sea level without any use of pesticides or artificial fertiliser in the mountain village of Gokase, Miyazaki.
Best brewed at high temperatures, these gently semi-oxidized heirloom leaves offer a rich floral aroma complemented by refreshingly green notes of summer vegetables and a clean oceanic minerality that lingers delicately on the palate as a mildly cooling aftertaste.
As such, Gokase Ichō Kamairicha Zairai stands as a unique and very natural testimony to Yōichi Kōrogi’s highly original approach to Japanese pan-fired (kamairi) green tea – a tea tradition for which both Kōrogi-san and Gokase village is famous.
