Handmade chashaku matcha scoop in in traditional sasanoha form from Chikumeidō in Takayama, Nara.

Sasanoha translates to “bamboo leaf” and reflects the outer tip of the chashaku which is shaped in the form of a bamboo leaf, making it slightly wider than other chashaku shapes.

Carved from kotake, or ‘old bamboo’, which, through exposure to smoke from kitchens and fireplaces in traditional Japanese homes, has slowly developed a deep, dark patina.

Tones in color therefore naturally vary, making each chashaku unique.

Comes in a cardboard box decorated with Japanese washi paper.
