Chikumeidō Shin Chasen is hand-carved in traditional Shin Kazuho form with approximately 70 tines depending on the original thickness of the bamboo. The slightly wide and therefore robust tines of the Shin Kazuho Matcha whisks provide a high degree of durability and flexibility, making them suitable for whisking both thin (usucha) and thick (koicha) tea. At the same time, the slim and perfectly measured lower part of the whisk ensures a well-balanced and comfortable grip. The bright bamboo is grown locally in Nara and slowly dried in Takayama for up to three years before being put to use – a 100% natural process ensuring the uncompromising quality and longevity of Chikumeidō’s matcha whisks. Comes in a cardboard box decorated with Japanese washi paper.
Chikumeidō is a traditional family-run bamboo workshop that has been creating bamboo utensils for the Japanese tea ceremony for more than 500 years. Today, Chikumeidō is led by Kubo Sabun, twenty-fourth generation of an unbroken line of master bamboo craftsmen in Takayama, Nara.
