Tetsubin Natsume | Chōbundō | 1,5L

鉄瓶 なつめ

Japanese tetsubin cast-iron kettle in natsume form with a capacity of up to 1.5 liters. Handmade by Mitsuaki Hasegawa, third generation tetsubin artisan at Chōbundō foundry in Yamagata, Japan.
Hasegawa-san creates a new mold for each tetsubin he produces, a highly laborious and nowadays increasingly rare manufacturing process. Thereby the natural richness of detail in the cast iron’s surface is emphasized, and at the same time it becomes possible to craft kettles that are surprisingly light-weight due to the thinness of their casted walls – both notable features of traditional Yamagata Imono, cast iron from Yamagata.
Chōbundō tetsubin comes with a natural urushi lacquer coating on the inside. The kettle can be used on all heat sources including induction.

Please note that tetsubin kettles are only intended for heating water, and proper handling – including thorough drying at low heat after each use – is important. You are always welcome to contact us with questions or requests for guidance regarding maintenance.
