Kamo Gyokuro | Natural farming | 2025

加茂 玉露

Naturally farmed gyokuro by Tokuya Yamazaki in Kamo, Kyoto, harvested from a single garden of the classic Kyoto cultivar, Gokō.
A rare example of a completely unfertilized gyokuro which Yamazaki-san, as a matter of principle, does not subject to any final sorting process – where neatly rolled dark-green needle-like leaves, bright-coloured stems as well as smaller leaf particles offer a pure and natural expression of the entire Gokō leaf.
The result is a unique style of ‘wild’ gyokuro where umami is naturally present, but in a gentle way that allows bright floral notes to come forth together with a rich berry-like sweetness for which the Gokō cultivar is particularly known.
