Chikumeidō chashaku | Shimidake

竹茗堂 茶杓 染み竹

Handmade chashaku matcha scoop in Japanese shimidake bamboo from Chikumeidō in Takayama, Nara.
The dark spots of shimidake bamboo appear when white hachiku bamboo ages and approaches the end of its life cycle – a very rare natural phenomenon that only occurs in Japan approximately every 120 years.
Texture and tone of colour vary naturally, making the expression of each chashaku unique.
