Marina Kawata"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Program for the kintsugi workshop<\/h4>\n<h5>3rd September 17:30-20:30 | Thursday<\/h5>\n<p>\u2013 Introduction to kintsugi and urushi (History\/Materials\/Safety)<br \/>\n\u2013 Broken edges are filed and surrounding area is taped off<br \/>\n\u2013 Surfaces are painted and primed with raw lacquer<\/p>\n<h5>17th September 17:30-20:30 | Thursday<\/h5>\n<p>\u2013 Pieces are attached together with <em>mugi-urushi<\/em><br \/>\n\u2013 Missing parts are filled in with  <em>kokuso-urushi<\/em><\/p>\n<h5>1st October 17:30-20:30 | Thursday<\/h5>\n<p>\u2013 Areas are smoothed down to the desired shape<br \/>\n\u2013 Surfaces are applied with a finer finish, known as <em>sabi-urushi<\/em> <\/p>\n<h5>15th October 17:30-20:30 | Thursday<\/h5>\n<p><em>\u2013 Sabi-urushi<\/em> is smoothed down with charcoal<br \/>\n\u2013 A coating of <em>roiro-urushi<\/em> is applied to seal the area<\/p>\n<h5>29th October 17:30-20:30 | Thursday<\/h5>\n<p>\u2013 The surface is smoothed down with charcoal<br \/>\n\u2013 The area is painted with bengara-urushi<br \/>\n\u2013 Pure gold or silver <em>keshifun<\/em> powder is applied to the painted area (participants are free to choose which kind of <em>keshifun<\/em> powder they prefer) <\/p>\n<p>As each process leads to the next, it is necessary to attend all classes.
