Program for the kintsugi workshop<\/h4>\n

\u2013 Introduction to kintsugi and urushi (History\/Materials\/Safety)
\n\u2013 Broken edges are filed and surrounding area is taped off
\n\u2013 Surfaces are painted and primed with raw lacquer<\/p>\n

17th September 17:30-20:30 | Thursday<\/h5>\n

\u2013 Pieces are attached together with mugi-urushi<\/em>
\n\u2013 Missing parts are filled in with kokuso-urushi<\/em><\/p>\n

1st October 17:30-20:30 | Thursday<\/h5>\n

\u2013 Areas are smoothed down to the desired shape
\n\u2013 Surfaces are applied with a finer finish, known as sabi-urushi<\/em> <\/p>\n

15th October 17:30-20:30 | Thursday<\/h5>\n

\u2013 Sabi-urushi<\/em> is smoothed down with charcoal
\n\u2013 A coating of roiro-urushi<\/em> is applied to seal the area<\/p>\n

29th October 17:30-20:30 | Thursday<\/h5>\n

\u2013 The surface is smoothed down with charcoal
\n\u2013 The area is painted with bengara-urushi
\n\u2013 Pure gold or silver keshifun<\/em> powder is applied to the painted area (participants are free to choose which kind of keshifun<\/em> powder they prefer) <\/p>\n

As each process leads to the next, it is necessary to attend all classes. If it is impossible to attend a class in person, Marina will take care of your piece with a surcharge of 300 DKK per unattended class. <\/p>\n

Item guideline<\/h4>\n

As time and materials are limited, please follow the guideline below when choosing the ceramic item you want to repair during the workshop:<\/p>\n

\u2013 Diameter: less than 15 cm diameter (exceptions may apply)
\n\u2013 Height: less than 8 cm
\n\u2013 Broken into 4 pieces or fewer
\n\u2013 Missing chips should fit within one cm\u00b2
\n\u2013 Small enough to fit comfortably in one hand<\/p>\n

About Marina Kawata | \u5ddd\u7530\u307e\u308a\u306a\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066<\/span><\/h4>\n

Marina first encountered the art of Kintsugi while living in Japan, and she has been working with this traditional craft since 2023. Today, she teaches workshops in Sweden and Denmark and repairs ceramics for private clients using natural, food-safe materials while honouring traditional Kintsugi methods. <\/p>\n

Join us for an intimate and practice-based kintsugi workshop with kintsugi artist Marina Kawata in io.<\/h5>\n
Starting September 3rd, the workshop takes nine weeks to complete, consisting of a total of five classes held every other week. <\/h5>\n
Each participant should bring a small, broken ceramic item to be repaired during classes, such as a teacup or small bowl (please see guidelines below).<\/h5>\n
After completing the workshop, the participant will know how to repair ceramics using traditional kintsugi techinques, based on natural urushi lacquer and pure keshifun gold or silver powder.<\/h5>\n
The workshop takes place in the teahouse in Bl\u00e5g\u00e5rdsgade, with complimentary seasonal teas from io being served during classes.<\/h5>\n
The workshop is limited to a maximum of four participants. We kindly ask all participants to carefully read the information below before purchasing a ticket.<\/h5>\n
Please note that the workshop will be conducted in English and that tickets are non-refundable.
