Ryōgōchi Sencha | Organic | 2024

両河内 煎茶

Unshaded medium-steamed sencha from Mr and Mrs Iwasaki’s family tea gardens, grown by organic farming methods on a pristine forest-covered mountainside in Ryōgōchi, Shizuoka.
A warm and buttery mouthfeel quickly transforms into refreshing sensations of lush mountain greenery backed by a moderate astringency testifying to the unshaded nature of the leaves.
Gradually, a pleasantly sweet aftertaste appears marked by a subtle yet distinct sakura mochi-like note for which the Shizu-7132 cultivar is particularly known – an echo of the fragrance of the finely rolled needle-like tea leaves in their dry state.
