Ryōgōchi Sencha Zairai | Organic | 2024

両河内 煎茶 在来

Unshaded mountain sencha from +100 years old (!) zairai tea trees, gently grown by organic farming methods by Mr and Mrs Iwasaki in the picturesque and largely untouched surroundings of Ryōgōchi, Shizuoka.
Despite the rustic appearance of these heirloom leaves, the Iwasaki family’s zairai sencha infuses into a delicately soft and rounded tea with a distinctly buttery and nut-like profile.
Here, too, are refreshing notes of grasses and wild herbs, accompanied by a soothing sense of warmth that gently spreads through the body shortly after the very first sip—reminding us of the old age of the tea trees and the pristine, undisturbed nature surrounding them.
