Description | 詳細
Okumidori is an elegant varietal of the tea tree known to be particularly suitable for shaded growth (kabuse). With Kamo Kabusecha from the spring harvest of Kamo Shizen Nōen, Tokuya Yamazaki has crafted an unusually delicate and distinct expression hereof. You will find clear sensations of natural umami and sweetness that one would expect from a high-quality shade-grown tea – in this case shaded via direct covering for fifteen days prior to harvest on May 19th 2021. But refined floral notes are present in the leaves as well, lingering patiently both in the nose and on the palate as a rich aftertaste long after the final sip.
As a tea grown by natural farming principles without any use of pesticides and fertilizers, Kamo Kabusecha stands as a very pure expression of the qualities characterizing the Okumidori cultivar. But Kamo Kabusecha is at the same time a tea intimately shaped by the Kamo area’s Kyoto terroir as well as Mr Yamazaki’s idiosyncratic approach to tea production and offer as such a unique tea experience. The finely processed tea leaves open up slowly and brew a delicate and detailed green tea which gradually unfolds and transforms across numerous infusions – a natural kabusecha in a class of its own.
