Chikumeidō’s slim chasen Matcha whisk is hand-carved from a single piece of dark bamboo in a contemporary slender design suitable for preparing Matcha in teacups or mugs, which are narrower or taller than traditional chawan tea bowls. The dark bamboo is grown in Japan and has been naturally dried in Takayama for approximately three years before use.

Chikumeidō is a traditional family-run bamboo workshop that has been creating bamboo utensils for the Japanese tea ceremony for more than 500 years. Today, Chikumeidō is led by Kubo Sabun, a twenty-fourth generation master craftsman.
